Planned investment of Rs 80 lakh crore till 2047 for maritime sector: Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal

India is set to pour approximately Rs 80 lakh crore into its maritime sector by 2047, as outlined in the Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047. This ambitious plan aims to bolster national maritime strength, with a significant portion of projects already completed or in progress. A new cargo berth is also being developed at New Mangalore Port.

The Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047 charts a long-term roadmap to strengthen India’s maritime capabilities, with planned investments of Rs 80 lakh crore,” he said at the Golden Jubilee celebrations of New Mangalore Port.
Sonowal said a new deep-draft general cargo berth is also under construction at the New Mangalore Port.
According to official estimates, 840 projects worth Rs 5.8 lakh crore are being implemented by 2035. Of these, 272 projects worth Rs 1.41 lakh crore have been completed, while 217 projects worth Rs 1.65 lakh crore are currently underway.
